Prosthetic Arm
I found this prosthetic forearm in an interior decor shop a few weeks back but couldn't afford it at the time. I obsessed over it, coveted it, watched it intently on the shop's online store until such time as I could revisit the shop and purchase it for myself.
Today was that day and I was overjoyed to find that it was still there, tucked away, just waiting for me.
Firstly, the glove was sold with the arm. I like that it gives it a bit of a 'Drive' feel... It's as if the Driver ever lost his right arm, this would be his replacement.
Secondly, the only articulation is in the thumb but it's got one hell of a grip. I keep getting my fingers trapped in it.
Regrettably, I can't find any kind of manufacturer's details, other than what appears to be a serial number: 384390.
Oh, and I have no idea as to how the sling is supposed to be fitted.

Invisible Scarlet O'Neil No. 8
I have always loved visiting second-hand bookstores, ever since I was a small boy, and this has grown and developed into a love of antiques and curios, particularly ones that aren't encountered very often. Obviously, this is where my decision to create The Curios blog has stemmed from.
If memory serves me correctly, I found this comic in an antique store somewhere in Adelaide's western suburbs, possibly in 1999. I'm not exactly sure why I bought it, as I had no previous knowledge of Invisible Scarlet O'Neil. The book itself was disappointing - there was definitely an element of classic comic absurdity and leaps of logic but ultimately, it was not as engaging as some of its contemporaries.
Scarlet, the creation of Russell Stamm, a former assistant to Dick Tracy creator, Chester Gould, was one of the first female superheroes to appear in comics, her superpower being that of invisibility. Hence, the not-so-imaginative title 'Invisible Scarlet O'Neil'.

Apparently, Scarlet has at least one fan out there, if the Invisible Scarlet O'Neil Blog is anything to go by.
Regrettably, I don't have a publishing year for this one, but one can easily deduce that it's an Australian edition, from the mention of 'Sydney' on the front cover.

1992 Batman Returns Trading Cards
For some reason, I've been holding onto these Batman Returns film tie-in trading cards since they were released in 1992. I used to have quite a lot of these but the main collection is long gone and I assume these were some doubles that I had stashed away somewhere. If I recall correctly, I tried to get my mother to cash in my 'Gotham City Dollars' but she never did. If she had, maybe I'd be posting the entire collection and not just the crappy doubles. *sigh*
