Welcome To The Curios

The Curios have been gathered from near and far. They may be common-as-muck or one-of-a-kind. They may be worth a pretty penny or a dime-a-dozen. They may be horrifying, captivating, loathsome, or scintillating.

Whatever the cause of their creation, hopefully they bring enjoyment to someone out there.

The Sinking of the Lancastria, 17 June 1940

On 17 June 1940, British troops and civilians were being evacuated from St Nazaire, France, just a few weeks after the evacuation of Dunkirk. My grandfather, a Lance-Corporal in the British Army, was onboard the RMS Lancastria when it was bombed by German Junkers. He was one of the few survivors, when countless others died. This is his story.

My family has reason to believe that the man circled in the
picture above is my grandfather, Harry Gravestock.
